Happy New Year! I know walking into this new year it can feel like we need to be tiptoeing in. Don’t make a sound, don’t ruin the hope of a new year. After 2020, hope and peace were rarities among the chaos. Setting goals sounds foolish especially when you look back on a year of plans ruined.
But what if we look at the moments created this past year. Moments you got to spend with someone you normally would not have. For me, I am beyond grateful that 2020 brought me more unplanned time with Trevor(my love). Usually, we only get to see each other on the weekends but with the lockdown imposed on CA, we decided to bunker down together and WFH.
I missed out on countless trips, important moments with family and friends, including my brother’s wedding, going to Disneyland or on day trips to somewhere new in CA, life without wearing a mask in public, hugging friends(something I had just come to treasure in 2019). I know this experience is not limited to myself. You and I went through it together. While our 2020 stories might be different, we might have experienced loss in different ways, I understand, I can grieve and lament the loss with you.
But I encourage you, friend. Have anticipation, good anticipation for 2021. This is the year you begin to plan your wedding, a day to celebrate you becoming one with your best friend.
